Choosing the Right Hair Mask for Your Hair Type
Share
Let’s be honest.
There are so many hair masks out in the market, it can be confusing and overwhelming to decide which ones will most benefit your type of hair.
Since everyone has various components that make up their unique locks, there are some important things to take into consideration while shopping for the right treatment.
First and foremost, you need to identify your hair type. Is it dry, fine or thin, curly, oily, or color-treated?
It can be a combo of a couple as well!
So, here I will be covering which type of L’ange hair treatments would best suit each variation of hair types.
Dry, Damaged or Color-Treated Hair:
If your hair is lacking moisture, and always tends to look dried-out or dull due to coloring or other damage, then I would recommend using a mask to boost natural oil production and promote a healthy scalp!
Our Silk Venom Keratin Protein Masque is perfect for leaving hair deeply nourished, along with improving its resilience and shine.
Since it’s fortified with Keratin protein and a blend of nutrients (like vitamin E, meadowfoam seed oil and rosemary leaf), it will help repair, rejuvenate and rebuild elasticity.
Make sure to use it once a week for about 20-30 minutes to start seeing beautiful, more lustrous hair.
Curly or Coarse Hair:
For hair that is thick, coarse or curly (or all three!), you need a mask that really is going to pack a punch.
Since curly hair is naturally drier, using rich oil masks with ingredients like keratin, coconut oil, castor, marula oil or borage oil will only benefit your hair and work to protect and strengthen each curl or strand.
The Borago Borage Oil Deep Conditioning Mask is the perfect pairing for this, as it is infused with borage oil, keratin, gamma-linolenic acid, and ceramide (all made for penetrating hair cuticles to treat interior and exterior hair fibers).
Fine or Thin Hair:
If your hair is fine or thin, you don’t want something that is going to be too thick and rich in texture, because that will just result in your hair feeling weighed down.
Opt for more lightweight hydrators like jojoba oil, biotin and other oil-based ingredients that will keep your hair feeling effortless and manageable.
For this, I have a great little DIY: In a small mixing bowl, take our biotin-rich Envie Biotin Leave-In Conditioner (also has coconut oil!), and mix it with our Smoothe Healing Oil Treatment (BTW, this can be used on all over your body too).
Apply to dry hair (you’re going to need a cap for this!), and leave on for about 30 minutes. Do that once a week and your hair will most likely thank you.
Oily Hair:
For oily hair, using a thick mask might just make hair oilier and feel weighed down, similar to if you have super fine hair.
Since you want to nourish your locks without making them getting more oil-prone, I would try out treatments or masks that feature antioxidants and vitamins to maintain a healthy scalp and regulate oil production.
There is another great DIY for this using L’ange products. Combine the Satin Nectar Nourishing Gloss with the Sorbet Botanical Smoothing Balm in a small bowl and saturate damp or dry hair for about 20 minutes.
The Satin Nectar features Vitamins A & C, along with coconut oil, while Sorbet features game-changing biotin, sage, geranium, and witch hazel – also providing UV protection to save your strands from everyday heat styling or sun exposure.
Oily hair doesn’t naturally need a mask as often as dry or damaged locks, so once a week for about a month will be enough to start seeing results!
