WOMEN INSPIRING WOMEN: MEET DALIA

WOMEN INSPIRING WOMEN: MEET DALIA

“I am a mother. I am a wife. I am different. I am Dalia.”

MEET: DALIA

Wife, mother, business woman, friend...Dalia Lange wears many hats. She founded L’ange Hair just over 3 years ago in Los Angeles, the city she calls home. Her dream was to help provide something deeply missing from the beauty industry. What started as a line of products meant to simplify hair care and styling has blossomed into a supportive, inspiring, and educational community. Growing up not knowing how to care for and style her own hair, she made it her mission to educate her daughters—and women everywhere. She continues to empower people with knowledge and is a firm believer that when it comes to styling (or not styling) your hair, the choice is always yours.

Having founded L’ange and seeing the way you’ve impacted so many lives, what aspect of your career brings you the most joy?

What brings me the most joy is seeing how L’ange grew to impact so many women in the world. The strong community that we've built, that real women inspire other women to feel great and look great. L’ange is committed to inspire women all over the world. This is my personal mission and it means the world to me.

How would you describe your current relationship with your hair?

My relationship with my hair is like my relationship with my husband. To maintain a healthy relationship I need to give it special care and lots of love and attention.

Growing up, how did you feel about your hair? How has this evolved?

As a kid my hair was big and frizzy and that’s why I had to keep it short so I could handle it...Later on, I learned how to (care for my hair) and I’ve learned that I feel beautiful if I put in the effort and treat my hair right.

How did your family and the media shape your views about hair?

Since I grew up without parents and without self-care guidance, I didn’t have any family influence on my appearance in general. Looking at real women on social media demonstrating how to style and treat their hair showed me that any woman can do it, any woman can (feel) beautiful.

What was your a-ha moment when it came to understanding society’s unrealistic beauty standards?

I always looked at magazines and saw beautiful models but I knew I was not a model. On the other hand, I looked at the mirror and I still liked myself. I am sure most women feel like that. Today social media has changed the game. We have women of all sizes, colors and ethnicities with all types of hair show us how they can make themselves beautiful. How curly hair or straight hair, red, blond, black or brunettes are all beautiful in their own way. These are real women!

What makes you feel confident?

What makes me feel confident? Myself, my family, my friends, and most of all, my life journey that showed me I can tackle anything.

What do you love most about your hair?

I love the fact that I can play with it and change my entire look by styling my hair different. There are these days that I am lazy or rushing and I will blow dry it straight. When I want to look a little more put together I will curl it, I can put it in a ponytail or use accessories. I look like a different woman every time and I love it.

Which is your favorite L’ange product? What do you love most about it?

It’s like asking a mother which kid you like the most. I love them all… But there is that one tool that I can’t live without. It’s my best friend, I use it every day and I take it with me wherever I go in the world. It’s my Soleil Blow Dryer.

How do you express your individuality through your hair?

I will never go out without styling my hair. I feel that my hair is my crown. I feel strong and I want the world to see it.

What is the nicest compliment you’ve received about your hair?

I’ve gotten it so many times in the last few years. “You look beautiful, what did you do to your hair?

What is a negative remark about your hair that’s stuck with you to this day?

I think that I am the biggest critic of the way my hair looks.

What would you like to share with the next generation that you wish you had known growing up?

I tell all my kids that the way they present themselves is the way that they will feel about themselves. If you get up in the morning and you let your hair stay “bed style” your day will feel that way as well. I wish I had someone teaching me this when I grew up.
