Healthy Hair Starts At Your Scalp

Healthy Hair Starts At Your Scalp

Caring for our hair is a concept we’re all familiar with. You know, shampoo, conditioner, maybe a masque from time to time. Did you know that if your weekly regimen doesn’t include scalp care, then you are missing out on a critical step! Adding a scalp treatment once or twice a week adds only a few minutes to your hair care routine, but it’s SO worth it. Here’s why:

Our scalp is made up of skin and should be cared for, much like the skin on our face and body. As you can see below, our scalp contains pores, hair follicles, oil (sebaceous) glands, and sweat glands. Things like washing your hair too frequently, not washing frequently enough, or overuse of products can clog our follicles. This, combined with sweat, excess oil, and dead skin cells can build up over time and can cause our scalp to become out of balance.

Here are signs that your scalp is out of balance:

• Itching
• Burning
• Dryness
• Discomfort
• Dandruff
• Excess Oil
• Blemishes
• A Slow in Hair Growth
• Hair Feeling Dirty, Despite Washing

This is where exfoliation comes into play. We want to make sure to eliminate that buildup of oil, product and skin cells to allow our follicles to breathe. Clogged follicles harbor bacteria, causing discomfort, scalp irritation, and can even inhibit hair growth. It’s all about creating a balance between deep cleaning the scalp and adding moisture back in. When our scalp is cleansed, hydrated, in essence, balanced, it reflects in the health of our hair.

To achieve this, here are 8 must-have products designed to give you healthy hair and scalp:

          Exfolier Purifying Scalp Scrub

This gentle scalp scrub cleanses, exfoliates, and moisturizes your hair and scalp. A blend of charcoal powder, apple cider vinegar and Himalayan salt detoxify and clear away product buildup, flakes, dirt and oil. Argan and apricot kernel oils deeply nourish and leave hair silky soft and revitalized. Frequent dry shampoo user? This is your new BFF!

Pro tip: As with any scalp treatment, make sure to massage with the pads of your fingers for gentle, effective exfoliation.

          Restorative Clay Masque

Rebalance hair and scalp with this rich, creamy clay masque. Bentonite, kaolin, and Moroccan lava clays draw out impurities and supply essential minerals, which help restore hair’s natural texture. Coconut alkanes and pineapple extract hydrate and smooth without adding buildup or weighing hair down. It’s great for all hair types, including curly and wavy hair.

Pro tip: Use 1 - 2 times per week to reduce buildup and leave hair soft and manageable.

          Detox Scalp Reset Serum

So long, itchy scalp! This soothing, cooling charcoal serum restores comfort and balance to your scalp. Activated charcoal detoxifies and gets rid of stubborn buildup. Antibacterial and anti-inflammatory tea tree and peppermint oils provide a tingly sensation that helps alleviate irritation on contact.

Pro tip: Apply this feel-good treatment to clean hair—no need to wash it out.

          Smoothe Healing Oil Treatment

Got 3 - 5 minutes? This unique heatless oil treatment deeply hydrates and improves the condition of your hair and scalp. The cooling, nourishing blend of peppermint, sweet almond, and soybean oils boost scalp circulation, lock-in moisture, increase elasticity, and help strengthen hair to minimize breakage.

Pro tip: Apply in the shower as a pre-shampoo treatment. Follow with your favorite shampoo and conditioner.

          Scalp Saveur Stimulating Scalp Brush

You’ll want to take this everywhere you go! Our soft silicone palm brush breaks up product buildup, giving you a deep clean. The gently pointed bristles boost scalp circulation, increasing blood flow and nourishment to your follicles. Best of all, it provides a soothing massage that makes tension simply melt away.

Pro tip: It’s great on wet or dry hair, and with your favorite shampoo, conditioner or treatment products.

          Tonique Invigorating Mint Shampoo

You’ll love lathering up with this tingly shampoo! Also containing tea tree and peppermint oils, it will give your hair and scalp a deep, revitalizing clean. Wheat amino acids strengthen hair while locking-in moisture and shine. Bid farewell to dry, itchy scalp and excess oil!

Pro tip: It’s great as a daily shampoo for oily hair, or once weekly to remove buildup in normal hair.

          Hair Elixir Transformative Oil Treatment

Here’s a mane multitasker. This lightweight oil treatment restores elasticity, vibrancy and manageability. Antibacterial and anti-inflammatory lavender, mint, and rosemary oils soothe and alleviate scalp irritation. Biotin nourishes and strengthens hair and scalp while caffeine promotes circulation, encouraging healthy growth.

Pro tip: Use 1 - 2 times per week to balance the scalp and enjoy softer, shinier hair.

          Detox Deep Cleansing Charcoal Shampoo

Looking for a gentle deep clean? This charcoal-infused shampoo clarifies the hair and scalp of buildup, oil, and impurities. It contains soothing aloe vera and apple cider vinegar to calm irritation, and restore balance, softness and shine.

Pro tip: The gentle, sulfate-free formula makes this great for everyday use and is safe for color-treated hair.

As you can see, small tweaks to your routine (including the addition of a scalp treatment or deep-cleansing shampoo) can make a world of difference for the look and feel of your hair and scalp. Taking a little extra time each week to remove excess oil, buildup and dead skin cells will help maintain scalp balance, resulting in healthier, softer, shinier hair.
